Assoc. Prof. İlke Bahçeci Şimşek was born in İzmir in 1977. She is married and has two children. She completed her Medical Faculty at Izmir Dokuz Eylul University between 1995-2001 and her Ophthalmology training at Istanbul Şişli Etfal Training and Research Hospital between 2001-2005. She worked at Istanbul Medicine Hospital between 2005 and 2016 and worked at the UCLA Oculoplasty Clinic in Los Angeles, USA during this period. She has been working at Yeditepe University Faculty of Medicine, Department of Ophthalmology since 2016. She received the title of associate professor in 2018. She is specialized in Oculoplastic Surgery (Eyelid aesthetics and operations of periocular area) and has many studies, publications, book chapters and presentations in this field in Turkey and abroad. She is training medical students and ophthaplmology residents in her subject at Yeditepe University. She also has experience in cataract surgery, pediatric ophthalmology and strabismus.
